WARNING! THE SHORT THAT I AM REVIEWING CONTAINS RACIAL STEREOTYPES!
So, a little side note: An earthquake happened right when i was writing this post, i guess the Earth really hated this short so much that it had to trigger an earthquake. Anyways, this short is just the most racially offensive short so far. This disgusts me seeing how Cpl. Norman McCabe (who was drafted to the war) flopped in quality. As you expect, this short is just like the generic racially insensitive cartoon from this era. Sight gags, caricatures of fascist leaders and caricatures of their people. What differentiates this cartoon from another wartime cartoon like Coal Black and De Sebben Dwarfs, Scrap Happy Daffy, Russian Rhapsody and The Ducktators is the humor and amount of racial stereotyping.
Now, the short is a parody of a newsreel by a Pathé spoof. This short continues as we delve into gags like how to avoid a grenade or the lock gag or whatever it was.
The reason i didn’t give this a 1/10 is because of historical significance, though if it was just racially insensitive gags that isn’t centered around war… i would definitively give it a 1/10. All those stuff aside, this cartoon needs to be studied, not enjoyed or put in TVs for kids to watch.
