#996. The Tree’s Knees

And now, we’re back to blandness. And this time, we introduce a particular character called “Bosko”. And of course, he’s a racial stereotype. But not that much of a stereotype as his later MGM design.

Now, this one is just weird. Not weird like “Porky in Wackyland” or “Book Revue” which are all masterpieces, this one is just weird. Not wacky at all.

As you expect, this short is about trees. How exhilirating. Nature really was a big subject of cartoons, mostly because of Flowers and Trees but not that exciting as that masterpiece.

This is an example of how ideas was really scarce before people like Tex Avery, Bob Clampett and Chuck Jones stepped into the director’s chair. Before that, every short was just gag, song, gag on autopilot for 7 years.

RATING: 2.3 / 10
