#995. Rodent to Stardom
This one is a remake of A Star is Bored. Which clearly is the better of the bunch, mainly because the characters actually have great personalities and have an established dynamic going back to 1951. This one does include characters that have great personalities, but they’re flanderized here. And they aren’t even the same size!
Another sin here is that the short barely has any unique plot points to differentiate it from A Star Is Bored. Mainly because it recycles gags and the plot is just “Two stars fight over who gets to be the main character”.
The Speedy and Daffy dynamic is already getting boring, and weird. A Star is Bored worked because the dynamic is actually understandable, as one is a sarcastic rabbit and the other is a greedy, selfish duck. While here, one is a strangely cruel duck and another is the fastest mouse of all of Mexico trying to help his friends.
The last thing i want to talk about here is the animation here is the worst, as you expect of most of these late-60s cartoons.
