#991. It's Nice To Have a Mouse Around the House

 

 And now, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The first pairing of Daffy Duck and Speedy Gonzales! And it’s as weird as you can get, maybe. Daffy Duck is a mouse catcher and Speedy is the mouse, with Sylvester and Granny having slight cameos at the beginning,

 I mean, it’s nice to try something new. As evident in Dr. Devil and Mr. Hare (#418) and Señorella and the Glass Huarache (#689). But, this is not good either way.

 The four things you have to be good at to make a cartoon is: Design, comedy, pacing and animation. This fails at all four. This is one of the worst cartoons to ever come out of Daffy Duck, infact it’s the 6th worst Daffy cartoon.

 This also fails because the dynamic is super weird. It worked with Bugs and Daffy because it’s sarcastic wit vs. a greed machine, it worked with Bugs and Elmer because Bugs is an animal and Elmer is a hunger and it worked with Porky and Daffy because the dynamic is comedic and funny. This doesn’t work because its weird.

 This cartoon could’ve been better, like a 4 or 3 out of ten. But Daffy and Speedy does not work except if it has an actual reason, like Assault and Peppered (#665) and Suppressed Duck (#688). But for what it is, this is the #13th worst Looney Tune.
